Missionary Testimonies
Where do I even begin? Personally, the door-to-door missions were great, but within the group of missionaries I discovered that we all witnessed to each other as we journeyed throughout Holy Week with a common mission and shared enthusiasm for the faith. One of our spiritual activities involved turning off the lights and each receiving a match to strike one by one. As the matchbox was struck, someone would say what they want to do with their life before the flame went out. It was amazing as we all realized what goals are closest to our hearts and what we ultimately want to pursue knowing that it will bring us to great intimacy with God.
The nocturnal adoration on Holy Thursday was also a great experience. Waking up at 4:30am to be with Jesus for half an hour is something that I would not have done outside of the mission setting. The missions always encourage stepping out of the box, out of a comfort zone, and taking a leap of faith. The missions have inspired me to live differently. My encounters with fellow missionaries, citizens, and with Christ always change me. I will be back next year. The friendships have begun, my prayer life has deepened, my faith has increased, I have grown in virtue, my desire for God's will is great and I could not ask for more- only that God be with me every step I take from here on in!
